Downbeat Dungeon, 2020
Downbeat Dungeon is a desktop PC game developed in Unity. All assets are original and by the artist: art, music, design, and coding.
The melody of the game's music is made by your attacks. In order to strike in a certain direction, there is a key sequence that performs the strike. For example, striking to the right would be ← ↓ → . Each keystroke defines a note in the melody, and the final note needs to be in time with one of the downbeats in the background music for the strike to be successfully performed.
Video Description:
A blocky, angular cartoon knight moves around a dungeon with spiked walls and square grey floor tiles bigger than they are. Followed by green monsters with pointed teeth, the knight strikes them repeatedly with their sword, timing the strikes with the rhythm of the music. The green monsters turn red and blink out of existence when hit. After a frantic search the knight finally finds an exit, only to reveal yet another level of the dungeon.
